What you should know about
The Foote School:


1. Reading, writing and oral presentation are stressed in all grades.

2. Character education is a focus in the curriculum and in extra-curricular activities.

3. Hands-on science and math begin in kindergarten.

4. Foreign language instruction begins in kindergarten and continues throughout the grades.

5. Music, drama, art and physical education begin in kindergarten and continue throughout the grades.

6. Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum.

7. Gym and outdoor activity time are scheduled for every grade level.

8. Our campus spans 18 acres and is home to more than 35 species of trees, a butterfly garden, a library with more than 47,000 books, a fully equipped playground, two regulation-sized playing fields, and a black box theater. A state-of-the-art science and technology building will open in September 2012.

9. An Interscholastic sports program serves grades 7-9.

10. Our Middle School teachers and advisors specialize in middle school learning styles and developmental needs. Middle School activities range from Chorus to Community Service to Model Congress.

11. Community Service begins in kindergarten and continues throughout the years with age-appropriate activities often tied to the curriculum.

12. Our classes are small and discussion-based, and there is an emphasis on cooperative effort and accountability for one's actions.

13. We have a diverse school community, which enriches learning and fosters mutual respect.

14. Our students have a strong record of achievement in regional, statewide, and national competitions in mathematics, foreign languages and more. Click here for the 2009-2010 results. And our graduates go on to highly selective secondary schools and colleges.

15. Our Chinese Exchange Program brings a teacher from Yali Middle School in Changsha, China to Foote for the fall term. A student/teacher delegation visits Foote in October, and Foote ninth graders and faculty visit China in March.
